Safety Innovations
Connector Drilling has engineered a number of safety innovations into the design of its drilling rigs and support equipment. These innovations are borne for years of field experience and focus on reducing manual handling, safe working at heights and equipment isolation. They include:
Automated Dual Hydraulic Breakout Assemblies:
Fully automated dual hydraulic breakout assemblies are designed to significantly reduce the risk of injury due to manual handling.

Automated Rod Handling Capabilities:
Rod handlers are fitted to all Connector Drilling rigs. When coupled with the break-out assembly function, this allows the process of drilling and hole casing to be completed with minimal manual handling.

Mast Static Lines:
Mast and access static lines allow for safe working at heights should there be a requirement to access the mast in the horizontal position. Administrative controls prevent working on the mast in the vertical position.
Equipment Access and Handling:
All equipment is fitted with hand railing which complies with Australian Standards and the most stringent mine site regulations.

Equipment Isolation:
In addition to standard points Connector Drilling also engineers additional isolation features to ensure operator safety is maximized.
Remote Controlled Support Equipment:
To improve safety on restricted drill pads, and on pads positioned in difficult terrain, Connector Drilling has built a track mounted remote contract rod slew.
